KSon's pretty much destroyed all goodwill with the holobox thanks to her outside activities, and those that were around during her time were already seeing her recline after Asacoco 2.0 and 3.0 and Meme review just being.. kinda subpar later on with mostly repeated template shit, tierlists and unfunny japanglish shit.
She also goes very much against Cover's policy of letting every talent brand themselves, because she forced almost every talent to say "motherfucker" in her streams, even if it wasn't part of their brand. Newer talents like Nerissa respect their genmates' branding (like Biboo) but Coco never really was about that, at least during her own streams. If Biboo ever went into a meme review stream, she'd be heavily pressured into "breaking the barrier" of swearing even if she didn't want to do it, just from the pure pressure of her aura.
Sana has almost zero chance of returning since she was never into streaming anyway, and that remains true on her roommate as well. As another anon said, it would ruin the impact of the whole "Promise" rebrand as well.

Aloe is the only one I can think of that MIGHT work, but even then NePoLaBo's whole brand was built off bonding over the shared loss of their genmate and their early struggles being debuted parallel to Myth. She wouldn't really fit in that well right now, and it'd be awkward for everyone involved.
Delu also has her own decently sized brand now, so it'd just be weird for everyone involved.

Hell we already have an example with Sasaki and her graduation --> ungraduation with the Pokemon perms shit and just how nonsensical the whole thing was. She got a ton of flame for it too. It kinda invalidates the feelings with which people sent someone off.

EN doesn't have any template to follow for comedy.
Manzai with it's boke-tsukkomi dynamic is an age old comedy trope, which can easily be adapted for modern entertainment.
EN "comedy" almost always devolves into dissing someone, whether it's a rival, some other entertainer, some political figure, some group of people etc. etc.
You'd be hard pressed to find a comedy show lasting one hour without a SINGLE instance of the comedian dissing someone.
Manzai on the other hand has the tsukkomi always dissing the boke (in a funny way) so just by the presence of the two and having a good dynamic between them, there can be almost infinite comedy.

Most of MC stuff comes down to entertaining the audience and keeping them smiling, which almost always involves the use of a light sprinkle of comedy. ENs just can't into that shit due to the lack of a template they can follow - they can't exactly diss random American politicians or other holos that aren't there, so when they only have each other to work with, and when it's random groupings thanks to the fes format, they don't have anything to reference for MCing - resulting in pretty awkward segments.
It's still cute enough for most EOPs so no one will say anything.

There's no "hate" per se (other than the usual nijinig/phasefag seethe), but some of the things that were there in last fest weren't there this time which kinda detracted from this year's fes.

1. Despite 2022 being kind of a grim year for EN, it was on a rising arc for JP due to many events, Rust arc, Minecraft second coming and a ton of other fun stuff. Holofes in early 2023 was kinda the pinnacle of the year (for JP), and it came after a year where you couldn't scream and shout at holofes or any other in-person events, so there was a ton of hype there.
2. Most of the popular groupings that year which were loved by the audience were present, Shiraken (with a surprise kino Suzy appearance), Startend, Bone Bros, Gamers (minus Friend, but with MC), 2-3 EN only & ID only groups, Shion x Gura and SubaChocoLuna.
3. Our Bright Parade >>>>> Capture the Moment as both a song AND a catchphrase. OBP lyrics and the phrase in general have a ton more meaning, whereas CTM just sounds like a tagline for an 80's polaroid camera. Song lyrics have some meaning but without a non-generic melody it sort of fumbles. The buildup to Our Bright Parade at the end of each day was also an extremely emotional ditty, emphasised by the clapping of the audience on both days.

This year didn't have any of that.
Doesn't mean it's "bad" per se, just that it's "more of the same" but with extremely weird groupings and dynamics, coupled with not letting the audience see the groups they love a lot be together (no Shiraken, no Startend, only SubaLuna this time without Choco's egging).
Also - specifically for EOP - the 2023 Holofes was an extremely kino reprieve from all the GRIM and shitposting about EN that was happening during that time, so it was kind of a pain relief.
This effect doesn't extend to 2024, because for 2023 EN has had an extremely good year, beggars getting btfo on all fronts and getting a fully unicorn friendly gen.
This, combined with the theme song not being as strong, would mean that the "feelings" for this year are just slightly lower than they were last year.

THAT SAID, it was still an extremely fun fes with tons of fun and emotional moments, and anyone new to this whole thing would notice absolutely zero issues. It's just, compared to last year even though the scale is bigger, it just seems like a step back in many small nitpicky ways.
