This is a part of the reason. In general, there are ~250 million Russian speakers world-wide, and the country itself has advanced IT infrastructure (read access to platforms/social medias), so high numbers aren't that surprising. But there are other factors.

For example, anything gachi-related is highly popular in Russia to the point that YT algos happily promote gachi video since people will watch. Gachi trend is meme culture legacy - zoomers picked that up after older generations, even if they didn't understand the appeal.

On the topic of this clip, most young Russians have at least basic knowledge of English, so they are curious about how Russia is presented in the West and how West is presented in Russia. Most viewers are likely in the 15-35 age group. This + algo magic sometimes results in a horde of Russians under videos discussing or depicting Russia-related subjects. In these cases, the comments generally describe impressions on the subjects or some smart ass remarks, something along the lines "actually, it's different".
