For the record, I'm being serious about using VNs to learn, just like in the link in>>46997981. I'm still watching EN too while learning JP. Even if you want to only want to understand and speak it, I recommend you learn the kanas first because it'll make things easier in so many ways. Don't bother with kanji if you're not gonna read/write much. Yomichan is extremely useful for learning, but don't underestimate learning the grammar properly too because it helps a lot. Just remember it's all baby steps. You're not going to understand things overnight. Anyway, just focus on improving what you want to do in Japanese.
