Its an island with a handful of cities/towns and a single forest in the middle. They only make money off of tourism and every few years a hurricane wipes out half the island. They are just too small too be able to do anything on their own but at the same time they don't really feel any connection to the rest of the US. Hell people forget that back in 1954 a group of Puerto Rican separatists tried to kidnap President Truman and shot up the House Chambers in DC, wounding five congressmen. Funny enough this act of violence actually turned most of the Puerto Rican population against any independence movement.
