This means you have much more time to spend outside during the summer months. If you ever played outdoors as a kid or if you ever do anything outdoors, this is massive. You get an extra hour a day for 6 months.
The alternative is "permanent daylight savings time", but the issue is that you wake up way before the sun rises and you're freezing your ass off and blinking yourself awake. It doesn't matter if you live in a climate controlled apartment, but for a normal person it's scarcely practical
