Ranni is cute, but half the reason she is so popular is because Melina is emotionally (and often physically) distant from you for the entire adventure. She has basically no attachment to the narrative, either. Nobody even acknowledges her existence in game, and her backstory basically doesn't exist outside of "she's probably Marika's daughter, and hates the 3 fingers". You literally learn more about Sellen than you do about Melina.
