Shondo is such a naive little girl. Most normies peak in their mid-to-late 20s when they have to pay for their own bills, women peak even earlier than that. Men become less reckless as they age and their cognitive processes slow down/their testosterone drops, this is when some of them evolve into wise grandpas if they're not NPCs. Now theoretically what would happen if you became an immortal vampire at the age of 20? You'd keep the mental age from when you got turned since your cognitive processes would never deteriorate.
TL;DR this is why Edward is an angsty fucker after 100 years, he memorized a lot of things but mentally he's barely 20.
