But the only Current Year garbage is translators moving away from those masculine pronouns, for example Bortz shouting "Nii-chan!" being translated as "Didi," or some other shit like that. The gems are just imitating Kongou-sensei, which is why they use masculine terms despite being sexless beings. There's nothing more to it.
