No those games are more closely related to Love-de-lic and pic related which were a subgenre of JP-only slice of life games made pretty much by like twelve guys from the early 90s to the mid 2000s.
What happens is that Weeb devs play Chulip or Chibi-Robo, miss the point of why these games are fun (they're basically modernized versions of DOS classics like Another World and Alone in the Dark) and just make toned down collectathons with zero stakes and pastel colors.
