You can represent the pink domain with an RGB space, yes. The main reason the HSV domain (left circle) was used is that you can quickly approximate the pink domain with a range in hue (degrees around the circle) and a range in saturation (distance from the center of the circle). Also, the bounds in hue map to our limits "salmon pink" and "purplish pink". With an RGB domain (right triangle) you really gotta define a set of points on the domain instead of ranges so it's a bit less digestible I think. But it would work too.
