I enjoyed watching Sonny's lucid dream stream today! He's still reading submissions, but I'm exhausted and quite frankly, the ones he's been reading haven't been interesting enough to keep my attention.
I did really enjoy hearing about Sonny's dreams, though. Maybe it's because I'm biased towards him, but also because the most interesting part of hearing about someone's dreams is all the 'what the fuck' moments - and his dreams has that in spades, from the recurring motif of gouging people's eyes out to everything inexplicably turning into Quake maps and MGS references to consistent but random Japanese geography and culture facts. You can really see how the dreams themselves follow their internally consistent 'dream logic,' but it's still strange and surreal - and the deadpan way he shares them only makes it strangely entertaining. I also noticed he was going through his dream journals live and chuckling a bit at them; it's like going through old files you've forgotten about and suddenly being hit by nostalgia or good memories.
He did a long and strangely earnest explanation on lucid dreaming techniques at the beginning, too, which was a pretty interesting dip into something I've heard a lot about but never truly looked about. I think this kind of 'directed zatsudan' stream is more common in JP, and it's actually a great fit for Sonny since he can talk for ages about something he's interested in but usually cuts himself short in regular zatsudans or struggles to come up with new topics. It's a common issue; I'm pretty awful in social situations but I ace public speaking because having some kind of 'purpose' or 'structure' to fall back on clears the anxiety for me.

Thanks for listening to my TED talk. I need to learn how to be more concise.
