Did you know that IQ is directly correlated to balanced nutritional intake? Did you know that it's literally impossible to build muscle in some parts of SEA unless you're hyper rich or an expat because foods with any significant nutritional value are all insanely expensive for the average population? Most of the populations of Indonesia, Philippines, and other such countries subsist on almost nothing but carbs and oil and salt, they literally do not have enough protein to build muscle even if they do the exercises. It also makes them stupider, cause they've been eating that shit since they were a baby and they literally have underdeveloped brains, same thing with ghetto kids in america eating mcdonalds from birth to death at age 34. Crime rate in any given area is directly correlated to the average nutritional deficiency of the people living in that area. You are literally setting yourself and everyone who thinks of you as a normal human being up for eventual defeat if you don't know how to cook. And I don't mean shit like pasta and rice and baked potato, you need to learn how to cure fish and make your own kombucha. But biome health controls brain health, general body health, joint health, blood health, everything. You are quite literally what you eat and if you aren't actively trying to control what you eat you are literally being cucked out of your own soul by corporate chemists. Heavily dependent on the technical skill of the chef. Bentos and molecular gastronomy have a lot of overlap in terms of art VS taste. Whereas the molecular chefs use chemicals and new age techniques to make flavors work and shape them into specific molds, japanese bento goes for the more raw ingredients in typical japanese fashion. That means the taste is heavily dependent on the quality of the ingredients but that's kinda changing with the modern california-japanese cross contamination that's ending up with stuff like sweet pickled carrot sliver flowers and sous vide egg yolks replacing typical tamago gohan. In the older paradigm most cute bento was made by japanese housewives with free time, they weren't great chefs so they compensated with a cute plating. Modern higher end bentos are taking the "cute plating" approach with more technically inclined cooking techniques. Costs are going up but so is quality. The typical bento of old would just be rice, maybe kaarage, some sliced up carrots, and cherry tomatoes or something. Modernist bentos I've been experimenting with are much more seasoned but fundamentally the ingredients are the same. Maybe a few more gelling agents and maybe a bit more watermelon radish, but nothing too crazy. Just expect classic homestyle bentos to not taste any better than the unseasoned garbage moms fed their kids in the 80s-2000s that gave kids the stereotype of "hating vegetables" because their parents didn't know how to prepare them.
