>august 25
>its been a while hasnt it? we had a good pair of weeks going
>Four new squads depleted, as always we introduced to them and had some fun, they seem great, even if some parts of the army think they are ''insiders'', what a bunch of bullshit
>altough, when things go easy, men relax. It seems some comedians kept bothering high command and we had to get ''the talk'' from the big honcho
>it wasnt a big thing, but it is annoying so just let me vent
>its not all sunshines and rainbows though, the bread guy got moved to logistics . He's still part of our squad but he's not around as much as we'll love. The boys dont make bad bread, but they just cant get the timing right, maybe when this ends ill go and visit his bakery
>finally, we had some endurance drills in preparation for the one year anniversary of the fort. if i were just five years younger i would teach these sons of a gun a lesson but you dont get to my age without enjoying some good alcohol so i tapped out halfway though
>Its really been a year huh, time flies when you have fun aye?

>The order finally came
>No one said a word as we marched to the funeral, not one single joke, just men marching in silence
>Seeing the Sanalites bury their leader was hard, i've seen people heartbroken, people burning their uniforms and putting new ones was heartbreaking. We got a few of them among us and no one is blaming them, as they were always our brothers
>but the worst ones are the ones still holding onto their belongings
>they are gathering whatever they have and marching on to the sunset.
>i can only salute them, as i hold back the tears
>good men, loyal men, marching forever, probably until the last of them drops dead under the sun
>But i can blame them, the gravity of the earth is too much for these space beings
>They were supposed to be our guiding star in the sky, now gone, reduced to stardust
>we lost brothers, they were supposed to be forever with us
>today i drink to them, my eternal comrades

> July 18
>the worse thing than holding a diying comrade in your arms, is the wait
>it turns sane men into beasts, deranged creatures stripped down to their barest form
>some of our men are turning, attacking each other for petty reasons. thankfully it doesnt take a lot to calm them down, but the morale is through the mud
>The doc suggested me some meds, but those never work, besides i know the supervisor is one of us, she is lurking
>always watching
>i think the wait is nearly over, but tell that to the desperate people in here
>i just hope we dont get hit by another sapling epidemy

>July 13
>Its been a while since we got back to the fort. We traveled to neutral ground ,since General Bae wanted us to link with a PMC in charge of an old friend
>negotiations went smoothly, and now the beerpals-Brrat alliance is strong. I never knew them, but they seem to be a professional and honest bunch, so we all drank from the sake cups and had a small party
>Yet as they say, God gives with one hand and takes with the other
>a messanger came running a few days ago, he was out of breath and before any of us could talk to him, he screamed ''LOOK AT THE SKY''
>and dear god we looked. The Sanallites fort was hit, the brains at hq say it was a thermonuclear bomb
>all i know is that they got decimated, and nothing can change that
>i took a look around and the few that survived or were in the earth before the bomb are preparing a suicide attack. They rather go with a bang than with a whimper
>Im gonna be honest. It hurts
>Sanallites were deployed with us, i had friends there
>and now they are all gone, not even a year and their numbers are dropping like flies
>we sent some relief forces, even global did, but we all know how this ends
>and yet the worst thing here is that feeling i have on the back of my skull
>that horrendous sense of relief that says ''im glad it wasnt us''
>i think this place is changing me

>July 4, i decided to document our story
>its been a while since we got assigned to this fort after laying low for a while,
>No attacks, for now at least, but im not surprised, out little fort is not near the frontlines
>i've seen too many good man lose themselves there, so im happy to be here
>the fort is silent and days go slow, but slow and silent is a good thing, it provides good cover
>some of our troops, sadly, got the sapling disease, its a shame to see grown men criying themselves to sleep, but we cant just slap them everytime they act up
>supplies are not an issue, one of the guys here makes a damn good bread, and recently some deadbeats and chumbuddies dropped some good food to keep the spirits up
>Right now things seem calm out there, but i know relaxing gets you killed here
>I think the others know too, Gosling seems on edge, and the bald bastard is quiet, which isnt a good sign
>but i dont think they are gonna leave, hell i dont think that idea even crosses our heads
>we got a job to do
>we have to hold
