Please allow me to explain the Hag Ripeness Classification System™ (patents pending) to the best of my ability. First, consider how everyone from mid-to-late 20-year-olds in young stepmother roles to actual septuagenarians all indiscriminately get the "mature woman" tag. Also note that stage ages are fabricated in the first place and cannot be relied upon as a reliable measure of an actress' actual age. This is why, despite being a subjective concept, ripeness has prevailed as the metric of choice when assessing older women.

That said, the Hag Ripeness Classification System™ (patents pending) is not intended for grouping and categorising for its own sake, but to better facilitate more appropriate discussions as well as more bespoke recommendations. The Japanese language, culture, and the JAV industry gave us a single umbrella term: 熟女 (jukujō; lit. "mature woman"). The hagchads' contention is that this is far too vague and imprecise a marker. The incredibly wide spectrum of varying degrees of ripeness accordingly necessitates a far more granular and nuanced view and is exactly what the system offers when discussing the genre and its constituent parts. It is an innovation that is both genuinely useful and tongue-in-cheek in equal measure. It was not meant to be (exclusively) an exercise in autism — it is an actionable reference point and guide to navigating and assessing ripeness for all curious sirs

Even so, it is not absolute and dogmatic. Opinions will differ which results in thought-provoking discussion and even deeper study of hags' identifying characteristics. For me, this is how I interpret the categories:
>Faux-Hag
technically not a bona fide mature woman and usually in alleged mid-20s but often thrust into motherly, nurturing roles already. considered mature when compared to others in peer group which allows for their casting. comparable to the big sister type, but with a more mature, sophisticated feeling. in other cases, it might simply be that the given context and/or presentation in a scenario has defined them as such for whatever reason. newlywed housewives, young stepmothers, teachers, younger aunts, sisters-in-law, etc typically constitute the limit of how mature a character they can play; a greater degree of suspension of disbelief sometimes required to accept the presented role.

>Quasi-Hag
typically in the allegedly early 30s (occasionally late 20s) range and, while still youthful in appearance, does not look out of place fulfilling more mature roles given the convincing hag energy even at this stage. earlier standards of giving the impression of being more mature than those of a similar age can still be relevant here as many chubas can reach their alleged late 20s/early 30s without giving the impression of a Quasi-Hag

>Pseudo-Hag
secretly on the older side but does not exude much hag energy. looks may or may not belie actual age. not usually associated with mature roles even if age is an open secret. in some cases, may also be a result of habitual (over)compensatory youthful behaviour to deliberately further distance themselves from any sense of discernible maturity. another hag scholar and a dear colleague eloquently describes a Pseudo-Hag as being "...at the age of hagdom, but lacks the hag 'anima' that energises the overall hag characteristic". uncommon

the ripening process is undeniably underway and certainly discernible but not nearly to the extent where ripeness is the most obvious or immediately distinguishing feature. typically in their allegedly late 30s to early or maybe even mid 40s.

>Classic
a very representative and unambiguously older woman but at the same time still unambiguously beautiful; an idealised version/interpretation of the mature woman archetype

>True
the ripening process has now led to more obviously waning looks but this does not necessarily mean ugly. a less idealised and more realistic representation of the older woman archetype, and especially applicable to real life/amateurs. typically begins around the allegedly 50 mark, where not even East Asian genes, a careful diet, rigorous exercise regimen, flattering make-up, perfect lighting, and clever editing can stave off all discernible effects of the menopause. many tend to be amateurs but some have made their name in this category, or simply stick around long enough to graduate from the preceding ripeness tiers

>Ultimate
the absolute limit of human possibility in more ways than one. this is the pinnacle of an old woman, the final phase before departure. it literally can't get any riper than this
