You need people to feel comfortable while watching you. So, let's not tiptoe around the uncomfortable truth; the design needs to be non-threatening to even low-esteem men. But it also should not be so repulsive people feel physically uncomfortable looking at it.
There's a reason so many top streamers are physically not that attractive or clownish; they make the viewer feel quietly superior to them in some way and thus secure.
