We don't really do too much hunting, but our climate is pretty much constant year-round. Mostly a sort of easy transition between spring and fall without much in the way of winter or summer.
Our islands do mostly stay in a sort of tropical summer with probably the only variations being a monsoon or rainy season during the year.

Overall idea sounds good. I think the only thing I might tweak is the setting. planetary invasion, even on a small scale, would still have to involve a way for the swarm to send creatures from space to and from planetside. The swarm is all bio so it doesn't have any tech. While it could conceivably create some sort of pod that would survive atmospheric reentry, there really isn't a way it could get saplings back up into space.
Space pirate idea is still a good angle though, so maybe they just attack their spaceship? Kinda sorta like a scenario from Aliens, but with swarm monsters more akin to the things from DeadSpace? What do you think?
