I don't think (most) people are seething about males as a concept. They're seething about these males in particular and how the company approached adding males.

Tsunderia added males and no one cared. Prism added males and no one cared. Pippa collabs with males and no one cares. VShojo added males and no one cares. Idolcorp collabs with males and no one cares.

It's how NijiEN conduct themselves post-Luxiem that pisses people off. The way the males have gotten so much preferential treatment that the guys themselves started trying to strong-arm management to get things for the girls because even they saw it as unfair. How the males refused to tardwrangle their fans and they all decided to congregate on a doxx site and harassed Nina out of the company. How they hired a guy who is a fucking sexpest who abuses women and faces zero consequences for it. The shit with this branch pretty much all goes back to Luxiem.

It's not an issue with male vtubers, it's an issue with Nijisanji EN that was caused by male vtubers.
