There aren't even any mechanical arms in that drawing (like most), just the empty gloves.

In theory (original design):
>6 empty gloves
>2 bio arms + 4 mech arms can wear them = 6 prehensile appendages

In practice (fanart, memes, streamer himself):
>6 empty gloves
>2 bio arms + 6 empty gloves move on their own with nothing inside them = 8 prehensile appendages
>mech arms/logistics 2hard/forgotten/unknown/ignored most of the time

Someone said he came up with lore that the gloves can move on their own, animated by the spirit of his dead former guildmates, and he uses the mecha arms when he wants to actually control them. I don't remember him saying that specifically, but I use it as cope anyway to placate my autistic brain any time I'm about to think too deeply about his design and get frustrated (which I've learned to avoid)
