While I mostly watched niji back then I followed a few EN still like Leaflit previous life who has been PNGtubing since like 2012 before it was even called vtubing, I actually didn't think of it as vtubing until I heard of Niji in 2018 and thought it was kind of the same, expect it started in the west before but not named vtubing.
