Which japanese rice variety is Beatani?
I think she is mochigome. Mochigome is a kind of short grain glutenous rice grown in japan mostly for making mochi, which is Beatanis favorite dessert. Mochigome looks like porcelain and is as white as paper, which is how I imagine Beatani to look like after nearly never leaving the house for such a long time. The appearance and sticky properties of mochigome result from the starch in mochigome being only of the amylopectin variety, this is because this rice has a genetic defect which makes it unable to produce amylose. This is a defect which in a way makes this rice more charming because this defect is why the rice is so sticky and perfect for mochi. Beatani as well also has a genetic defect which results in her adhd behavior but just as in the case of mochigome I don't actually think it's bad, her adhd is what makes her actually her and I would not want her any other way just as I would not like my mochigome to have any amylose and lose its mochi perfect properties.
