Yeah so the boss characters all have spellcards, these spellcards are named. The fans of the game have learned all the names.
As you fight them, they'll do a normal attack. And then switch to their spellcard, which is usually a more challenging phase. Bosses have like 6 or more spellcards you have to go through. The playable characters have "spellcards" too, but these are called bombs. They basically just fill the screen with destruction while they make you invulnerable for a short time. You only have a limited amount of bombs, but they can help a lot.
