I actually think it's a really good "feature". I've lurked a few threads and pretty stunned at how homogenous they are. I happen to know basic hiragana (moonrune studying motivation dropped quickly thereafter) and I'm actually not sure if I would've figured it out otherwise if I just casually scrolled through the catalog.
