I stand by my belief that the whole point of Blade Runner is

And it kinda tries to counteract that inherent doomerism by being about a revolution that'll create a better world instead, but they focus on a dude who couldn't give less of a shit and really just wants some meaning in his otherwise pointless life. Which is even more doomer. The "making the world a better place" storyline is just a background element in the story of Ryan Gosling getting laid and killing himself to feel better about being a robot.

They were too cowardly to commit to a truly radical, revolutionary message of any kind. That's the reason.
