Any time bud. It's one of those games with a pretty small community because of its entry barrier and matchmaking's kinda busted right now. On the bright side they're releasing all the old Rundowns as ALT:// versions now that 1.0 is out and they've got the storyline ironed out. The lore of the game is very complex and mostly described through in-game text logs you find on certain terminals.

Long story (relatively) short: You're playing as a criminal forcefully subjected to the "Legion" program by a PMC named Kovac Defense Services. Kovac Security Operatives, or KSOs, are subjected to a process that destroys their memories and indoctrinates them to follow orders without question. Kovac was running security for Santonian, a mining corporation that found the object that killed the dinosaurs. The monsters originate from this "fossil" object and the facility constructed to research it. Almost all of its staff have been dead for at least five years and you are receiving orders from an entity referred to as The Warden with dubious motives via a cortex interface used to issue orders to KSOs through a system called BIOCOM that is linked directly to your character's brain.
