Seems like the majority of Youtube channels struggle to get people to sub to them, since a large portion of their audience relies on the algorithm pushing their videos to them and 90% of them never subscribe at all (possibly don't even have an account).

Why is it that Hololive and corpo VTubers in general have the opposite problem? Hundreds of thousands and even more than a million subs for a lot of them and yet a large portion of their VODs are in the 40k - 50k range.
Heck even the bigger chuubas have only around 300k - 500k VOD views, half their subscribed audience isn't watching most of their content.
Why does such a discrepancy exist between audiences using the same platform?
