Is the allure of Hololive killing the "Box" development potential of smaller corpos?

Back in the day, the VTuber industry was a lot more in flux, companies rose and fell rather quickly (within a year or so), and so nobody in the industry had a goal to join a particular company (other than perhaps Nijisanji in 2019, since they were at their peak).
Nowadays, obviously Hololive has pretty much become the market leader in the industry and has become the "end goal" to reach of a lot of VTubers, both indie and corpo.
i.e. getting into Hololive is their biggest dream, and they try their hardest to reach it, no matter where they are.

But this mentality also means that whatever these VTubers are currently doing simply becomes a stepping stone towards that goal. All the friendships you made, all the connections and all the progress you made in your current identity is all in service of becoming a contender in the Hololive auditions. The stars of a lot of small VTuber companies e.g. Pomu (Niji), Yuko(Idol), Pippa(Phase) etc. are all HUGE Hololive fans, and if given the opportunity, would likely be quite happy to join Hololive and leave their current identity behind, even if it's just for the sheer monetary potential of being a Holo member.

If Hololive is the end goal of all smaller corpo girls, then that sort of kills all the potential they have to develop their current identities and Box (if they are in a corpo). Mental train of thoughts often translate to the physical, so you'll find yourself unconsciously connecting less with your peers, putting in only just enough effort to stand out and not put enough efforts to leave a legacy behind - because you unconsciously feel that it would be a "waste" to do things in your current identity rather than do it when you reach Hololive, so that it leaves a bigger mark. e.g. Bijou apparently didn't play Tears of the Kingdom in her PL and waited till she was in Hololive to do so.

Obviously this not Hololive's fault, they are simply doing what they've always done.
But to smaller corpo girls : Would it not be a better goal to try and become a "Hololive" in your own niche? Hololive started off from about the same place you came from after all, and it took years of effort for them to get to where they are.
If your subconscious mental goal is to always try and reach another company, isn't that a bit counterproductive to displaying your talent to the world?
Or is it just that hard work over many years is considered too difficult an endeavour to pursue, when the golden ticket is tantalisingly shown in front of you?
