You’re supposed to turn them on only in the dark, even then with a slight light around, otherwise it would be shit.
Contrary to popular belief, night vision is… quite bad to see with. It allows you to see SOMETHING. All it really does is enhances every light it catches.
However with modern ones they act almost like “VR” goggles giving you full view. Still most goggles will have you see something like pic related
