Nice reducto ad absurdam.
Thing is livestreaming is an inherently parasocial activity. That's no less true of flesh streamers too, male and female. The degree of interactivity between streamer and community is part of the essence of what distinguishes it from other forms of media. And naturally it's a continuum.

If you think there is a problem with this, then the only answer for you is to move on to greener pastures. And if you do work through this medium, then you accept that degrees of success with fans on one hand inherently comes with degrees of emotional investment from those fans on the other. One thing leads to the other; one thing essentially is the other. This is one of the greatest strengths of the format. Something that it can provide in ways that other forms of media don't.

Some have a hard time understanding this. There is fundamental immaturity on the part of status-signaling tertiaries; they want to see the success that comes from fans getting invested, but don't want to bear any responsibility for that investment.

Here's the thing mang: streaming is an inherently parasocial activity, and i mean that in the technical sense of the term. If you want to act like there is a problem with this, then the only answer for you is to chose a different medium to work with. And if you do work through this medium, then you must accept that degrees of success with fans on one hand will inherently come with degrees of emotional investment from those fans on the other.

Much of this ultimately boils down to a kind of fundamental immaturity on the part of status-signaling tertiaries; they want the success that comes from fans getting invested, but don't want to bear any responsibility that would come with that investment.

Parasocial relationships aren't something that only happens to lonely men, it happens to everyone who spends a lot of time watching or listening to the same person. The human brain wasn't made to deal with being able to get social interaction from someone we can't interact with.

I don't understand why parasocial is being used as synonymous with incel/unicorn/"idol culture" now all of a sudden.
All streamer-audience relationships are parasocial, inherently. Even if you're not selling BFE/GFE, any fan wanting to interact with you at all is doing so in a parasocial manner. It's not just a VTuber thing. Hell, it's not even just a streamer thing. Surrogate friendship falls into this too.
