did you click "yes" when asked if you want to enable burn on your character?
it's 3x leveling speed so you're really gimping yourself if you're leveling a normal character

for the maple guide, it's under the character menu, it'll open a small window that suggests questlines (as well as offer a teleport to them)
if you press the green plus button it'll open the full guide menu
