Vesper was popular when he debuted. He remained popular because he displayed that he's very autistic and he plays games that suit his autism. He gained further popularity by getting suspended like a retard, and then coming back and drunkenly and emotionally talking about the dumbest possible shit during one of his streams in Japan where he was talking to the chat with the lowest quality Xbox mic he could find.

And now he's even more popular here because people find it amusing that he's barely collabing with any Holostars, but always seems to be available for a Hololive collab.

I'll put it as bluntly as I can. Despite Vesper making some strange decisions and losing some of the previous trust he had among people on /vt/, he is still the least annoying Holostar by such an incredibly large margin that many are willing to forgive his "sins" and it's also why people still like and care about him. He wouldn't get this many threads about him if people here didn't adore him.
