ah, gotcha. well still, Inventor or whatever you have used before it not nothing, there are still some concepts for sculpting at least that can help you there. rigging is a whole other animal though, I'd definitely suggest trying out making a very simple complete rigged model first so that you understand how the skeleton works and all that. it will save you rework in the long run!
