As someone who is currently taking up Sports Science, ya'll gunna put a tear in my eye. Find your own motivation to work on yourselves, and don't give a shit about what other people say. See it through, no matter what. It'll be worth it.

I smoke weed, but I can easily practice self-control with it, unlike nicotine (which is my biggest hurdle). I can get high for a day and not blaze for roughly a month. I typically smoke up only when I'm having a really fucked up day or if I want to be high during a specific event (like the Coco graduation that's coming up). If you don't want to completely quit, I suggest you really start pacing yourself. Try just blazing once a month (a lot more that a month would be ideal tho). Save specific media you want to consume on that day too. If you have no confidence in your self-control, then have a trusted friend hold on to your stash until the next month.

If you want to completely quit, which I think should be your goal instead since you are developing an addiction, I completely agree with anon here. I also suggest surrounding yourself with good friends while you do so (no, not the ones who smoke weed).

I also do harder drugs from time to time, specifically LSD, but I always make sure to pace them more than 6 months apart at least. Nowadays, I really only do it once a year. For that, I suggest seeing a therapist or straight-up going to rehab. I've had a friend who seriously developed drug addiction, and I've also helped them through it. During that time, I decided to also partake in the abstinence for a long while until he and I knew that he was 100% confident that he wouldn't go back to his old habits. Having a friend really helped him, so I really suggest having a support system with you at all times if you do decide to go to therapy or rehab. That being said I am back to my old habits, but I make sure to never tempt him in any way. I mean it's not like we see each much anyways.

If it means anything, I know how it feels to have the need to cope. I'm in a country where it's easier and cheaper to get drugs than it is therapy, not to mention the heavy stigma when it comes to mental health here. I fully support and appreciate your decision to get help, even though it's just here.
