Anon they're watching chuubas for the same reason we are - LIVE ANIME!
If you like an anime girl there's maybe 12 or 24 episodes of content about her before you have to either re-watch or start digging for manga (if any) or fan works. And even then, there is an "end" point.
Chuubas though? If you like a girl and she streams relatively regularly, it's dozens of hours of HER content!
It's the same for harem stuff. Once you consume enough, you kinda start feeling the similarities between them and get bored and look for more - moving into chuubas.
Of course, their mentality is simply a bit twisted thanks to cooming too much and not having enough imagination.

One thing I forgot to mention - all the reactions /here/ or on reddit? They simply add to their coomer fantasies.
Consider the fact that they self insert into homos.
Consider the seethe in this board every time someone does a homobegging fanart or post and it gets a lot of discussion.
And consider just how EAGER these people are to actively look for those delicious comments about "unicorn seethe", almost as if they have one hand on their dick while typing.

In their head they're living the "netori" fantasy.
All the seethe from "unicorns"? It just fuels their self insert sex fantasy.
Once you understand this mindset, you'll start to understand EXACTLY why the homobeggar behaves the way they do.
