These drawings are even more bizarre than normal. Normally they can get away with this kind of bullshit by saying it's an "alternative interpretation" of an anime/video game character. But it feels like an entirely new set of lines are being blurred and crossed, since vtubers are living people who (whether directly or through a company) have chosen a form for themselves, and it's being violated in a sense. Imagine if a real person was told they should change their skin color to make others feel comfortable. With the blurring of the character/actor line, that's what's happening here, depending on how personal the actor considers the character to be.

The person behind the character is intrinsic to the character, and can't (effectively) be replaced like a voice actor, which represents only a handful of a written character's traits. Being a live act where the draw is personality, the person IS the character to one extent or another. So what does it mean for someone to insist upon an "alternative interpretation" of them? That we're so far down into this lunacy that I can even conceive of this question is disheartening.
