Projekt Melody stands in a doorframe, one hand wrapped around a commercial sized trash bag the other balancing herself on the side jamb of the door. Over her ears are a pair of Sony DJ monitoring head phones from the 90s. The model number on the side often alludes her, but, she always takes them off when people ask her what she uses day to day and recommends them highly. Noting that she replaced the ear cups with 'something memory foam' and wrapped in 'some sort of purple breathable gamer chair fabric'. She feels this is special bit of secret tech that she references to people to seem like she's more in the know than she is.

Connected to the headphones is, and you'd never guess, a minidisc player. Loaded with podcasts. She remembers buying it after her 3rd or 4th cashout, she thought at the time and to a local friend "I feel like all these hipster-beard-moustache guys are all buying cassettes again. Mostly to get the vaporwave albums that only come out on tape for whatever reason. And what was the slightly more modern version of those back when I was little?" And when she got home looked it up and found it, a minidisc. This too was a Sony brand one she had bought. Not for any sort of brand loyalty, the one on eBay that she had found had the box and a multitude of attachments and blank discs. 74 minutes and 80 minutes respectfully. Most sealed and never used. After some research she learned she could throw MP3s on it and then did. Liking the concept of making "SUPER FUTURE MIXTAPES" as she once put it to a different friend. With a knowing wink and nod and a half scoff and half chuckle.

And at first she did make a few mostly for driving around, the machine plugged into the AUX port of her car, but, today, in her home and in her ear, a podcast. This one currently playing is about the "Gentleman's Agreement" in the Japanese Domestic Market. They call it JDM a lot in the podcast, she had heard that term previously, but, it didn't really click until listening to this particular podcast. And it mostly just made her reflect that she is, or at least her likeness is boldly wrapped upon some JDM car. She doesn't remember the make or model. Just that it is. And that type of thing is called itasha. Anime girls all over a car, and that her professional life is that of an anime girl.

Shifting her trash bag filled hand to the ground, releasing the weight of her home's refuge from her slender arms onto the floor. She ponders this briefly. The other hand brushes her bangs aside slightly removing some sweat drops accumulating on her smooth, assuming blemish free brow. She hasn't looked into the mirror today. So, she can't know for sure.

She wipes the sweat from her palm onto her leggings. Capri cut with a pocket in which her minidisc rest. Black and green, a chevron pattern pointing down the front to her feet and the floor. She recalls the lengths she had to go to find them, in good quality, with a pocket. She remembers the struggle for a pair with a pocket.

Ladies always struggle for a functional pocket.

Her weight shifts on the balls of her feet, upon them a pair of flip flops made from recycled yoga mats. She notes some pain in her shins, it feels as though she has been standing all day. Like when she worked, in a different life. She recalls time in the local studios, doing all the positions she now does at home. But, minus the hot yoga part of it. A different friend clued her into it being terrible for your body. Not the yoga, the hot part. So she does it at home, in the living room, on her expensive grip mat, recalling wanting to buy the cheap ones, but, her feet just keep slipping off of them. A dumb moon and stars pattern on it. "I'm such a basic bitch." she scowled to herself internally at purchase. $110 plus whatever the tax was.
