You're just turned off by this because you keep comparing it to a real relationship, when people are very capable of having these types of relationships without being damaged by it. Digital relationships are nothing like we've ever seen before on this planet. You make the assumption that people are using them as substitutes for some assumed deficiency, when the reality is that they're something different. You think there's some "real" way the people you complain about should be, when the truth is that humans are still changing and will always be changing, because we're living being and we adapt to our environment. You make all these assumptions based on some misinformed idea of what an ideal life should be, when if you've ever studied even the tiniest bit about history you'd know just how different societies can be and how much they can change, and how many different types of relationships human beings can be besides the "strong emotional bonds" which you parade, which are a measly handful of closely related people. Of course, it's very easy for you to be certain about all this because you really don't know a lot, and keep repeating the same thing every single person who complains about vtubers does. But the reality is that you're completely powerless to stop any change and year after year streaming in its various forms has become more and more prevalent. Millions of people have found their happiness thanks to the internet, and keep doing it every year, and all the boomer complaints and impostor syndrome in the world can do nothing about it.

The dog in your analogy isn't us. It's you.
