I find it really hard to believe that she's being honest. She really hates weeb stuff and its fans after all, which makes the fact she became a vtuber even more puzzling.
But everything adds up perfectly once you assume she simply wanted money, no passion for the things she's doing at all. Do you think an artist wouldn't feel like creating their own design? Also explains why her actual streaming is so insipid and boring, she's just showing up to collect a check.
