Incredibly for the same reason they like muscular guys: brute strength.
Women biologically like strong, dominant guys who can protect them. A big, tall, chubby, "dad body type" guy has as much potential to protect a girl as a muscular guy. Not surprisingly, in brute force competitions, it is always the strong-fat guys who win.
I remember realizing this when I saw a lot of teenager girls drooling over David Harbour in the first seasons of Stranger Things. He might have been a kinda fat guy, but he was strong, badass, initidious, protected the kids, and that's kinda attractive to women.
