No, it's not. Unfortunately I had a religious realization of the same kind about Christian God. Everything is termed in allegories of wheat and chaff and fields and harvests and reaping and it hit me: God doesn't love you either. God just wants to harvest you and eat you, and if you're unfit for eating you get tossed into the furnace for fuel. And religion is the exact same parasocial relationship, real or not you're in a completely one-sided relationship where your every waking thought it filled with the deity and then the deity doesn't really know you exist in any form outside of an amorphous collective of "worshipers".

What's going in with vtubers is like religion. These girls are like deities and oracles that are worshiped, given offerings, and obsessed about by otherwise lonely and empty souls. You're not just getting the Girlfriend Experience. You're getting the Godfriend Experience.

Why does man need this? It's clearly a need, because look at where we are. We've re-invented religion to satisfy some urge within us. Why?
