if you watched more shows that develop their characters well and treat them as real people rather than a means to milk the audience for cheap emotional reactions maybe you'll grow some more empathy and be able to interact with things outside of your AT(ism) field more.
Also reciting dictionary definitions of terms is a poor way to grasp what they actually mean, because it's misleading and overly robotic. Melodrama is already one of the most misused terms that its definition basically changed over time from the shakespeare definition to just series that are emotionally manipulative or contrived, especially ones that utilize cheap tricks like laying on the sad music for otherwise normal scenes where characters face normal amounts of adversity like getting fired from a job or getting bullied in school. Anime is especially terrible with this because most anime recycle scenes from shows that came before them to express emotions, for example every bullying scene has random faceless NPC's gossiping near their lockers as the character leaves school to indicate they are being bullied. It's all very boring and appeals to the kind of audience who are just there to cry by self-inserting as the victim(women) rather than people who enjoy genuine character dramas with proper back and forth character development and growth. So you can't really just call it bad directing or whatever, because they're trying to target a very specific audience with their cheap tricks that are easily pandered to, the audience that likes soap operas and repetitive but exciting plot points like cheating boyfriends or grandma dying of cancer or whatever.

Honestly it's a shame because I really like Luto and Yura and Shiki but that company is going nowhere fast due to incompetent management.
Their boss literally makes them take out loans from him to buy their own streaming gear for debut that can take months to pay off. I've seen /asp/ies and /wvt/ talk about Prism's gen 4 being a failure because everyone who auditioned for the 2view corpos saw Prism's contract and bailed the fuck out.
Phase Connect at least seems to have competent staff, their only big fuckups were the 2 JP-only girls that are left on an island and Pippa's existence.
