I think it's both. He does read the story, he mentioned liking Eugen and his story arc in the Nahlgrande arc. His favorite characters are Orchid and Zwei. But he also mentioned how his strongest team was for Dark GW (Six/Lich/Fediel, used damas for weapons).

I'm going to say this as an avid JP watcher. None of them have this sort of chemistry besides AsuIzu (Astel/Izuru), who are willing to shit on each other constantly. The rest feel very restricted when they collab. None are willing to banter even playfully and it's always very straight laced. Astel though has a sort of banter buff aura around him that for some reason makes the other stars more willing to shit on each other, mostly because he shits on everyone, so everyone probably feels more comfortable doing so. I just realized that one thing about Tempus is that there has never been a Boke character in all of stars (not even somebody pretending to be), until Axel came along. As much as people like to call him dumb, I just have a lot of appreciation for him for the fact that he can take all the banter as the Boke character and still truck on. Genuinely don't think the group would work as well as it does without him.
