I think the vtubers themselves feel the same way, but you can't exactly choose your fans. Pomu used to get really excited when she found out she had female fans, because you can tell she genuinely wants women she can talk about otaku stuff with and she loves seeing cute cosplays of her.
Unfortunately Pomu filters women pretty hard so "just being herself" results in a 90% male audience anyway. She has more viewer overlap with Kiara and Mumei than she does with any of the boys....
