A small boy sat at the table with a frown,
A sandwich in front of him, brown and round.
It was peanut butter and jelly, a classic treat,
But the thought of the jelly made him feel defeat.

He thought it was slimy, it didn't taste right,
He preferred other foods, like crackers and sprite.
He'd try to eat it, but the taste was too much,
He'd rather have something he enjoyed, like a chocolate bar or such.

His mom would say, "But jelly's so sweet!"
But he'd shake his head and refuse to eat.
It was a battle that happened every day,
But he just couldn't stomach the jelly in any way.

Maybe one day he'll change his mind,
And the sandwich won't be left behind.
But for now, he'll stick to his picky ways,
And find other foods to fill his hungry days.
