Tip before the FGO stream. Don't play it. As someone who has played it for years, it's archaic as fuck. Fate content is best/easiest consumed through anime or manga. The VN is a good starting point only if you can tolerate/enjoy playing visual novels.

Fate/Zero and Unlimited Blade Works TV is really all you need as a starting point.
