I'm talking about waaay back in late 2019, when Holo's biggest talent was Fubuki and she had barely 250k subs. Even by then they had a few funny clips like the one with Shion and Korone in minecraft talking about her accent, or the AkuShio neighbor war, or the "Hololive resistance/ja teki dane?" clip.
It took a while for chuuba clipping to reach a big level, but even in those early days holo had a bunch of funny and interesting clips that you could show to potential new fans to get them interested.

Both of IdolEN's top talents have been around for 9 months, and they have 200k and 500k subs respectively - yet I've not seen a single uniquely interesting clip coming out from either of them. It's just strange, and like you said I suppose the marketing is literally all they have going for them.
