Everytime I watch one of these mixed collabs I am reminded that even with a cute anime avatar and gfe pandering women are significantly less interesting than a couple of guys talking

This shit doesn't work when you consider how they still haven't kicked out Matsuri for the hand stuff and they certainly have enough material to use the NDA breach card considering the amount of times she's accidentally blurred the lines between herself as a holo and as her roommate. Not to mention Matsuri has poor views and poor superchats(besides when its Apex gacha time), especially compared to Rushia. They would have fired Matsuri long ago before Rushia.

Yeah I don't believe its just them wanting the ship to die/tone down, if that were the case then either would have addressed it long ago instead of taking this long to say something, and in this case only 1 has. We've already had other cases of main ships addressing to their audience to tone down, specifically the NoeFlare and TakaMori ships. That hasn't stopped them from collabing with each other , and most of the fans of the ship did curb it up while still obviously supporting the ship when it happens. And its especially suspicious when you consider Miko keeps on feeding the Micomet ship or drooling for Haachama while Pekora made a cover song about romance with Moona and collabs a lot with Marine who keeps flirting at her.

Like seriously, you're telling me you would stop interacting with your friend in public because there's a couple of people think you guys make a good couple?

You haven't really tried to learn most of those girls huh. Those girls aren't signaling that they have other lives/jobs from being a Holo nor are they having other aspirations. Their activities are often just for a side gig/job as well as to do stuff they can't do as a Holo like play games they don't have permission or to collab freely. Matsuri has long given up on being a proper idol and just plays games, Noel does it to earn more money and do stuff that obviously she can't as a Holo, Azki had the chance to leave when her contract was up but decided to sign up a new one and get integrated officially as Hololive member, most of the other stuff you mention are from their past accounts that barely gets used.

Let me go on the opposite direction and say Mumei and Baelz was the worst one so far. There was some fun parts but Baelz sometimes tried too much to do "funny" stuff that distracted Mumei a lot, causing both of them to lose focus and immersion of the story at several times. It also doesn't help that both of them really tried several times to force the two characters to be like a ship/couple instead of being a bros, which unfortunately looks to be what Kronii and Irys have been doing but at least they seem to be paying attention to the plot and are immersed in the atmosphere so far. You can see this with how Mumei and Baelz seemed to barely be touched by the ending and also they didn't get that competitive to each other. I think they could have been better if their partner was someone that's attentive and someone they could be competitive with, like if Baelz had Irys instead while Mumei was with Kronii. As it is, both kinda weren't paying enough attention to the story to get invested to feel that bad with how the story went.

As for best, it's GurAme due to how they were the ones who were generally competent and competitive with each other. I also don't remember them really trying to act flirty to each other compared to subsequent playthroughs where feels like one or both the players ship the characters.

Yeah you're the one who got it right, Haaton's are damage controlling because back then they were buying into the rrats that Haachama was depressed and gonna graduate from the Coco drama, but turns out that she really just wanted to focus more on college and ghosted her fans in the same way Ayame does. Matsuri may not be completely innocent, but at the end of the day she just wanted gen 1 unity and expected Haachama to a good sport about it but she just ghosted her instead of being honest in saying she wouldn't do it so Matsuri could have at least changed plans.
