Bringing this post back but updated yet again because times change in 6 months. Here you go. CRASH COURSE ON VSHOJO for fans of Mika / Kamii / Stranger-chan / Those who identify as former or surviving PAKUCHAMPS

Froot: Loves Apex. Good artist. Was a friend of Mika's pre-graduation and is a complete gremlin. Please learn to not listen to retarded catalog rrats about her. Does music, and every song is a fucking banger
Geega: Total hag and also a friend of Mika's pre-graduation. If you love hags you're going to love Geega. Enjoys boomer shooters, roguelikes, and indie games, but is currently in a months-long GTA RP arc with little outside of that.
Haruka: Autistic, but very lovable. Will befriend anyone. Won't intentionally cause problems, but inability to read a room may prove problematic down the line. Typically seen hanging out with Zen. Loves Nintendo games, beating rage games, and also liked Mika pre-graduation.
Hime: Gigantic fucking titties. You'll rarely see her, but when she goes live you'll know because it's all anyone will talk about. She's a once a month streamer, but everyone loves her.
Mel: Streams on Chaturbate as well as Twitch. Is a lovable purple cinnamon roll and has a brain that barely functions just like Mika. Very bad at games, but has a can-do attitude. Has recently gotten into Warhammer and painting figurines.
Mouse: Feisty Latina. Typically seen hanging with a certain Welshman. Gets sick a lot as I'm sure you're aware. Debuts new outfits all the time and those typically come with group collabs. The most popular VShojo and the one who probably has her own trophy case at corporate.
Zen: Uses TTS. Feisty Latina. Powerful force for unity both within VShojo and with indies. Also was close with Mika pre-graduation and will 100% use her as future kidnap-fodder. Claims to not be lewd, but definitely is. One of the most popular VShojos despite the TTS handicap. If you're a coomer then give her a shot.
Henya: Claims to be a genius, but her intelligence rivals Mika's (derogatory.) Japanese ESL, but in a very cute way. Somehow found herself in the little sister role at VShojo and is pretty much always up for joining surprise groups so you'll definitely be seeing her a lot. Borderline agoraphobic, but beloved by all.
Kson: Typically JP-only and typically YT-focused. That doesn't mean you'll never see her, but she's content doing her own things and streams are usually watchable even if you don't understand Japanese thanks to her translating herself or people in chat doing so. Takes many breaks because her non-streaming life is getting her all kinds of popular. Very crude. If or when there's a collab I'm sure she'll get along swimmingly.
Kuro: You know him. Since joining VShojo he's been experimenting a lot with his content. He's done facecams, IRL streams, and most recently has even been doing some more art practice.
Mata: You know her. Since joining VShojo she's let her Warhammer autism fully bloom. Her near-inability to say no to collabs means she's around for a lot of them. Her current top focus is Mint, but she'll probably move mountains to hang out with Michi if she asks.

Non-Talent Staff+:
Gunrun: Memed as a smiling backpack enthusiast. CEO.
Loutlot: Completely fucking schizo. JP CEO.
Poshie, Panini, Elsie: Other staff members. May appear in Minecraft occasionally.
Tofu: Not staff, but is managing the Minecraft server's modpack and joins sometimes
Mowtendoo: The Queen of VShojo. Look at his YT channel.
Highgai: Frequent person they go to if they need an event hosted, or someone to do a Japan IRL stream. Very friendly, and he's at pretty much every con VShojo appears at. You'll either love or hate his facial hair.

Notable others:
Girls FC: Geega's non-VSJ group. Consists of Grape (You may see her, she's open to joining collabs), Bat (You will never see her), Mint (Fat dog. You might see her), and Nina (Not THAT Nina. Excellent singer.)
VChiban: Small corpo that's basically an elevated friend group. All four (Buffpup, Shiabun, Rosedoodle, and AiCandii) are very close with Mouse specifically, but can appear in other's chats.
Vei, Nazuna, & Nyan: Ex-VShojos. Still occasionally get posted here.
Silver: Ex-VShojo. People post her to troll here.
Aethel: Nyan's BF. Brotuber. People like him too.

Notable +'s that you will probably see a lot:
Arielle - Longtime Haruka bestie, Zen kidnaps her frequently
EvilToaster - Apex addict, Zen kidnaps him frequently
Obkatiekat - Metalhead and Froot bestie. Zen kidnaps her occasionally
Froggyloch - Autistic insane Canadian. Zen kidnaps her frequently
HeavenlyFather - Invented black vtubing. Zen kidnaps him frequently.
Porcelainmaid/Jowol - Fucking loved Mika pre-graduation. Will probably schedule a collab asap.
Giri - Responsible for possibly the only vtuber collab she did post-graduation and pre-VShojo debut.
Other names you'll see around, do your own research: Nagzz, Rainhoe, Bao, RubberRoss, Layna

IF I MISSED ANYTHING FEEL FREE TO POINT IT OUT.

The year hasn't yet ended but I'm pretty sure Albemuth will be my discovery of the year.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewO0HYJmGRU
It's this song in particular, Red baptism, that convinced me. It's got all the markings of a Sheena Ringo song from the Kalk Samen Kuri no Hana era, like it just didn't make the cut and stood in wait for someone else to claim it. That's praise as high as I can give to a musical artist and I'm pretty sure I mean it.
It's more artPOP than artpop, it leans a tad more into appeal than expression, and that's hard to pull off. I'm happy to see something like that coming from vsingers, from whom you can at most demand competence, or in its absence, charm. There's more here.
Projects such as these are not the work of a few individuals, since they're corporate, and are therefore harder to take seriously as art for some. I'd normally agree, but there's been exceptions before and Albemuth can count themselves among them.
Some more songs (including solo songs):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMHAzx5SW-s
Has the sophistication that most merely cute songs lack.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g6W_tBiJO_E
Nothing out of this world, but I must've been in the right mood the night I first heard it; It almost made me cry.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zk9XlDWrjjE
You guys never talk about this, but it's got a nice accompanying video.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dWZUupPnZU
A cover. Nothing special (it's an R Sound Design song after all LOL), but an anon nominated this one to best ASU song, and I'd agree it's good.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ci53K0Wbejo
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9B3VzC1vbU
Opening and closer for ADAM. Some anons agreed this album was trying a bit too hard to sound cool, but these songs are good. If I was you, however, I'd give eve a listen first, it's the best of the two.
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_lOiqiE4ZyS8O0qIIA8bpQjwAc7FRHvl7k
If you're curious, during KAMITSUBAKI FES '23, CIEL joined Albemuth to sing the opener to eve, Eden of Elegant.
Also, their name is yet another Philip K. Dick reference.

It's not just the Council banner. It's Council + Hope. Officially IRyS is supposed to be sort of an extension of Myth but she ended up getting much closer to Council and she basically filled the gap Sana left.

Kay Yu refuses donations and the game can not be legally monetized. Even if Cover wants to buy the license to make it an official product he has said multiple times he doesn't want it to become a corporate thing because he wants the game to be free forever with no monetization attached.

The guy isn't rich or anything but he gets plenty of work because he's a good artist and animator, both traditional drawings and pixel work. He also loves tits and ass.

Cover is hard-carried by their talents. The company only exists to provide 3D studio services and anonymity "protection". Worst part about being a talent in this company is that you can be treated as 2nd class citizen at any step of the way and the best excuse you'll be able to shit out for your fans is "it can't be helped, it's no one's fault". Let's take character designs for example. We know that SOME talents were able to give input and ask for design changes BEFORE their shit was rigged. Gura initially didn't have teeth, but she successfully negotiated to have the top row of her teeth added. On the other hand, some talents had zero input. We knew what Aqua would look like before the VA was chosen and there's no way Tempus members (Vesper & Magni) were okay with their chins, especially Magni who's also an artist and definitely saw that multiple face improvements could be made. Why is it that some talents are privileged while others are stuck with shit and have to just accept it or stream looking like that for over a year until minor changes could be made? Is Cover corp too afraid to ask famous artists to make changes so they would not be offended? Is this nip autism at work? This reminds me of Skeb where many artists have no revisions policy meaning that you just have to take whatever they give you.
Another aspect is rigging. It seems that Cover has absolutely no quality control. Two years later Gura's still stuck with her rhombus face. It's an easy fix any competent rigger would have been able to do in two hours, but they still chose not to bother.
I swear sometimes it feels like the company is there to make things harder for some talents instead of working to improve their shit. I'm sure that most have no problems with how things are run, but if you are one of the few unlucky ones, then good luck getting through corporate autism to have your shit changed. Sorry for ESL.

Based on my reading of their threads during that time and with the disclaimer that they never managed much past 1000 dislikes and that probably includes people other than Anstafags, Ensemble Stars yumejos are hardcore unicorns and the ultimate corporate bootlickers. Already before they decided to get angry about Out of Frame, they were complaining about how covering songs ought to be illegal and how they can't shake off the thought that Happy Elements is not getting their cut from utaite and vtuber covers. Also, the main reason to cover Ansta songs is to steal Ansta fans away from Happy Elements. So once you get over the surprise that these people actually exist and function in society enough to have disposable income to spend on gacha, it's not all that surprising they decided homages aren't a thing, because they had never heard the word before. Also accused the composer of plagiarism because the chord progressions were similar (not even the same, if I recall correctly) to a song by a different Ansta composer. They also accused the artist of the gatefold (who had also drawn all their cover arts) of tracing, although from what I saw, passers-by on Twitter and elsewhere noted that the evidence they had compiled served only to prove (s?)he didn't. But in the end they were seething about their husbandos being associated with other women, I remember in particular the one who complained about images of Inui flickering before her eyes now every time she gazes upon the Mao merch covering her apartment. Several of them were saying they were unable to play Ansta or listen to the song that resembled Out of Frame due to intrusive thoughts featuring vtubers. They were also seething about how Out of Frame is actually a good song they'd like to listen to if it was an official Ansta song and that the artist's Ansta fanarts were better than official arts.

Also, it was the lyricist who made the mistake of writing something along the lines of "connecting the virtual world and Ansta world" which, the yumejos claimed, tricked them into believing it was an official collaboration. Of course, as passers-by pointed out, anyone who knows anything about Ansta knows it's males only and anyone who doesn't know even that can't get tricked by virtue of not giving a shit about Ansta. This didn't stop the seethe, because there were several Twitter posts from people claiming they bought Out of Frame by mistake, although all of those had curiously been deleted kinda like there were suddenly several posts from Anstacunt haters on 5ch's Suisei general and vtuber haters on Ansta general right before links to each were posted on the other. Which is also interesting since the first letters of the lyrics Toko's orison spells out her oshi's name which made her public enemy #1 for the yumejos, but as the yumejos themselves noted, for some reason people kept seething way more about Suisei who had been the shitflinging target of the month for antis without a cause ever since Still Still Stellar's sales numbers came out a couple of weeks prior.

The lyricist did apologize on his own and dropped out of some interview stream with other music people, but that came so fast that it didn't really stir the yumejos up further, although it probably brought the issue to wider attention. After a week or so the yumejos were saying they were losing heart because of the lack of official response and said how tiring it is that Happy Elements doesn't do anything but leaves yet again (!) their copyright watchdogging to the fans. They were also angry at how yet again outsiders are blaming Ansta fans for flaming when they've always been the victims. But then Happy Elements and Arte Refact issued a statement saying that no one had done anything wrong, but that they were nevertheless sorry for the mental anguish caused to the fans. The yumejos then decoded this to mean Happy Elements supports them and doubled down on their e-mail writing campaign to Cover and Anykara as well as Toko's sponsor at the time until eventually giving up due to any lack of response from them.

IRyS simply is not a good singer, no corporate artist can be good. She really should consider just turning into a normal holo. There is nothing exceptional about her to set her apart as a singer, even Kronii and Mumei do better than her, and they are “normal” holos.

>nepotism
>bad

Another controversial opinion. I don't think Nepotism is... bad, especially in something like vtubing, where rapport is super super important. It's become something of a buzzword, and one that's not particularly relevant. I'd argue that NijiEN was constructed with "nepotism" in mind, with an explicit goal of transplanting an existing friend group of EN chuubas, with the goal of banking on their friendship as an engine, with corporate backing.

After all, is this much different from referring a friend with similar experience for a job at your employer? The counterargument here is that corporate vtubers should be evaluated for their "skills" and "talent", but in an inherently social environment like vtubing, I'd argue that having strong friendships, the kind that might take months or years to develop, takes precedence over whatever nebulous concept "talent" is, since the charisma and Te-te energy of good friends playing games together is a skill in and of itself.

This is the exact opposite approach HoloEN takes, which strikes me as very prudent. HoloEN gets all these super talented girls - a rapper, a pro artist, a cosplayer, and the girl who made the OK Boomer song - which single handedly launched careers on its own. And what do you get? The girls are talented, certainly far more talented than the NijiEN girls, but they have no chemistry and their social interactions kind of grate. Playing minecraft together is just playing it by themselves but with occasional messages back and forth.

Meanwhile, the NijiEN girls are constantly bantering on twitter, or having a laff playing multiplayer games. I think Niji realized that they couldn't compete with Holo in terms of raw talent, so they tried to attack where Holo was weak, and the fact we're talking about them now shows that it was at least somewhat successful. When you think of things like Elira and Finana setting up Beatmario for Pomu's IRL BDay, like, can you IMAGINE, say, Ame doing the same for, I dunno, Mori?

Bitching about NijiEN being nepotism is ridiculous because the group is built around connections, and instead of one person being hired and tricking the company to hire their friends, I'd argue that it's more like, 2434 wanted the WHOLE group from the start - Miki, Nova, Mint, Lyrica, whatever - and they just chose to debut them at different times because its stupid to debut 10 vtubers at once.

1) Did you watch any corporate vtubers before finding /wVT/?
>Yeah, I got interested in hololive through clippers. Watched a lot more translated clips than I did official streams.
2) If so, who did you watch?
>HololiveJP: Korone, Nene
>HololiveEN: Ina, Kiara
3) What did you like about them? What drew you to their content? How long did you watch them?
>I really liked how Koro and Nene would express themselves with these really basic and ugly mspaint stuff. Like, they had this whole world of things they would whip up and it wasn't polished at all.
4) Did it take you a while to warm up to indies, or did it happen right away?
>I started to want to be a vtuber. It clicked how I could be a male presenting vtuber and it could be a really top tier high skill hobby. So... I had previously seen indies and didn't think much of them. Suddenly they were my role models. It was crazy how my perceptions shifted so intensely.
5) What drew you to indies? Can you compare it to the corporate content you enjoy(ed)?
>I guess the first vtuber who I started watching who was really indie was Temmie. Through her I started watching Pikamee, who, now I wouldn't necessarily call her indie anymore. With Temmie, I never got the impression she was programming and producing content that she just wanted to do but with Hololive I get the impression they chase trends hard, maybe because the artists don't feel compelled to do anything in particular. You can tell when someone is making inspired content and when they're just working hours. It occurs to me that I like vtubers with interesting voices, Pikamee definitely grabbed me with her voice.
6) Do you look for indies with content similar to Hololive/Niji?
>No, but I'm not really sure what that means anymore. I watched a Shiki stream the other day where she was reading weekly horoscopes, which I've never seen before. I enjoyed it despite knowing little about it.
7) If you had/have a cooperate oshi, is the content of your favorite indie in any way similar?
>I mentioned before that I like vtubers who make their own art and assets. Now, maybe Koro and Nene don't make their own stuff and I have been fooled. Self-reliance is indie, right?
8) How do you compare the indie western vtuber scene to the corporate scene?
>I see all vtubers are business-people. I just assume everyone wants to do it full time. I absolutely dislike if an indie is talking politics, religion, culture war shit because I see it as antithetical to good business practices. This is obviously far more common the "more" indie you are lol, the smaller the artist, the more likely they don't have a filter.
9) Are you happy, /wvt/?
>Yeah, I am. Life isn't perfect at all but I feel like the things I am doing are leading to a better tomorrow consistently. It's liberating.

Thanks I will have a look at them shortly.

Ah, the robot guy. First thing I would say is that I'm not sure if your microphone needs up an upgrade or whether you use some filter to give your voice some affect related to your model. If it is supposed to be an affect, then I would suggest making it more extreme/obvious even if it affects audibility slightly (and perhaps raise your mic volume slightly in that video).

There is no overlay to criticize, but it seems like there is not any chat either? Its not required but I think it is a good idea that will increase engagement. Viewers like to feel like they're in there with you and a chat overlay helps that. Some of your notifications are scuffed up though, which you noticed.

Watching more of your video as I write this, I would actually say you're not far from the 'good personality' part of the good content rating. You don't have any dead air although without the Twitch chat displayed it isn't clear to me whether it's chat helping you keep your air alive or if you're good at talking even when chat is dead. But if it is chat your chat engagement is good.

You're making jokes and saying interesting things, I think as you become more comfortable streaming and riffing off chat and the game, and learn your 'stream persona' more you'll be doing really well.

On your model, I said I didn't rate my personal tastes (I think this kind of corporate robot salesman type model is cool actually) but I think your model is in a weird spot where it isn't in the "so simple it is just fun" category like with Teru/Bodega rat etc. which means I end up rating it against the more 'serious' models.

Callie's model for instance isn't some technical masterpiece, but it has a really simple style that is done really well. I'm not an artist, but I know how hard creation is. I'm not sure exactly what it is about your model that bothers me (perhaps the face doesn't quite clearly communicate 'robot guy' to me?) but it could also just be that you're so small on the screen here (perhaps a good reason for an overlay) that it is simply hard to read.

Nvidia broadcast has recently updated to be compatible back to 900 series. Look at it again in case you can use it. It might be heavy on older cards though.

I don't think you should necessarily do Japanese every stream, I just meant if I only rated you on that content I think it is very good.

僕も日本語を何数年勉強していますが、残念ながら、Ambersさんの配信を見える暇がないんです。
