That's really one of the biggest things. To get bigger as a streamer, you gotta like, stream. (Just look at kaela for example.)

Another big part is yasashi.
English speaking women are more full of bitterness and spite than any other major demographic on the planet, so it's really noticeable to find ones that are lower down on that scale.
At the end of the day noone wants to watch a streamer who makes you feel like it is a chore, or a trial, or a job you must suffer through, like something you must endure for the sake of who you're watching.
For decades now people have been increasingly turning away from occidental media, which is full of demoralization, and towards japanese media, for that very reason.
The finest vtubers give off that healing feeling through their being. It doesn't really matter whatever the exact activity is, whether it's games, or karaoke, or even video reactions; they make it feel like you are home with good friends.
