You're referring to the Arcade/playstation sequel right?
I believe >>3913574 was thinking about the US Gold false sequel for Genesis and Master System

BOFIII
I'm surprised to see how much this one seems to be loved: back then I found it kinda dull, and it felt like it lacked the scope of the first (didn't play the 2nd): I missed flying on the map screen and traveling underwater

Some Breath of Fire

Thanks op, I absolutely LOVE Landstalker.
I find it funny how a lot of people ditch it for the confusing perspective, missing the whole point of the game...
I would have bought a PSP for that fucking cancelled remake...

Star Ocean the second story.
Suikoden I/II
Also loved the original Breath of Fire back then.

It's my second favorite (after FFVI), but I assumed since op said no Chrono Trigger he meant the whole series

>For a kung fu style beat em up Black Belt kicks copious amounts of ass.
fyi it originally was a fist of the north star game in japan, hence the exploding baddies (same with the infamous last battle on the genesis)

Only played the first one, it was pretty good: game looks great and is unique in that the BGs are actually vids, and so feel a lot more lively than on other games using 3D models over CG backgrounds. While short the game is also pretty varied, each level having its distinct atmosphere (game starts in a cyberpunk ambiance, then goes towards magic in the latter parts)
But be aware that its gameplay is full of die and retry parts (especially the boss)

>and by no means whatsoever is it any more cryptic than, say, the original Zelda
This.
There were no signs of which wall yo could break or which bushes you could burn, you had to test them with limited supply of bomb and a candle that (at first) could only burn one bush per screen at a time... People always bring up the crystals in CVII, but what about the flute in Zelda?

They were experimenting, so they probably didn't have a clear idea of what they were going for; and there most likely were some time constraints too, I doubt the lack of enemies in the last castle, and of bosses in the overall game were a choice

You're definition's right, too bad that term is so often misused

recently got it on 3DS, really really like this game.
Love how the game trolls you with false clues in the villages and dead-ends/fake walls and floors in the castles.
Worst flaw is that it's way too easy: when you die you resume on the same spot of the same screen, even after using a continue.

I'd say try not using a guide op, unless you're really stuck

Attitude looked and played pretty bad, but my bestfriend and I had a TON of fun with it: the sound effects were satisfyingly brutal (especially when using the mic weapon), and wrestlers got visibly bruised and bloody as they took damage. CAW mode was great, I remember making my bestfriend and I (then tons others) and we would then spend hours beating the shit out of the wrestlers we hated, then we'd make 4 players matches where each one of us had his own avatar...

In the driving stages in the original "Die Hard trilogy" on psone, you could run over innocent pedestrians (with no penalty whatsoever) and then the windscreen wipers would wipe off the blood... In the Central Park stage you would run over dozens of them in a matter of seconds. I found that hilarious, but was kinda surprised it didn't stir any controversy

I assumed OP meant sidescrollers when he said 2D.
If he didn't, well yeah Diablo is the epitome of hack n' slash, and like with >>1585547 suggestions, most ARPGs would fit the bill

Problem is that a filthy cart will end up dirtying the system's connectors too...
From my personal experience, scrambled graphics have always been fixed by cleaning the carts, so my only advice is to continue cleaning the cart (20+ years of accumulating filth might need quite some work), and to try other carts too as soon as you can.

>"Do you think she's cute?"
Did she mean Zelda as the princess, or as the player character?
