So the nes was an American design, its one of the worst looking consoles. The super famicom looked great. With consoles you want the design to hint at the power availible by looking hi tech.

Xain'd Sleena
From my perspective at the time it was a totally open world with unlimited freedom because I would be killed before seeing any limits. Now the levels are pretty small but it plays fine unlike double dragon which doesn't hold up so much. I played this even before atari.

Texture warping is not some massive flaw in the ps1, it was well worth sacrificing to be able to get it to display that many polygons. Pretty much every pc game from 1995 and 1996 had texture warping for increased speed for example slipstream 5000.

I had a feeling that the cdi was really hard to program for and wec is really impressive for spectrum. Compare that to EA console games which ran poorly right until late ps1.

Something I've noticed is if the brightness is turned up to the max it could indicate a worn crt. Most places don't let you test them anymore anyway, you don't need something too big, 17 inch is decent and lighter than many lcd's that people use nowdays. The last time I saw a crt for sale was 3 years and I got it, a lot of the time it mite not come with the remote but they could have it with the other stuff they are selling. People don't bother to sell crt's anymore, I've seen a couple of those mid 90's black ones dumped and ruined in various places. The silver ones from the 2000's are pretty good.

For a system released in late 1988 being able to be well support to early 1995 is just incredible what they were able to do. Though there were a few times limited cartridge space caused inferior graphics compared to the amiga. It was a premium system until pc was able to do doom. It just makes you think how it could go so wrong with the saturn. Also back in about 1990 a lot of people had the attitude that the they will only buy nintendo no matter what. Fast gameplay holds up more than being able to display more colours.

It still lasts at least 4 hours with recharables which is not much different than lynx and game gear. The game fills out the border unlike if you play on a gba or psp. Before you would have to angle the light perfectly, gets real annoying after 5 minutes. Its the best way to play these games, they look like crap if you try to play them on anything else.

Wonder if thats why a lot snes's got that black screen issue. I've got a master system with mega glitched graphics and a megadrive that will just show a bunch of squares in master system games. I had an atari 2600 with terrible tv reception, put in a new voltage regulator and a capacitor from the rgb kit and the image looks perfect now even in rf. Strange is the atari lynx is seceptible to failure but mine I brought in 1995 works 100% perfectly.

I was playing gran turismo on ps2 a while ago and noticed slowdown where I don't think there was on the original ps1.

With fpga you can make a c64 cpu and then put it into an actual c64 and it will work if the implementation is good enough.

exactly, if its not programmed right it won't be accurate

I think Nintendo could have been as big as Disney if they didn't make as many blunders. Just wait until the switch fad is over and Nintendo will be out of the mainstream once again. Nintendo used to be pretty much at the top of the game industry and now they are nowhere near, consider that even Bethesda and Activision and what they were in 90's and now they could probably rival Nintendo. If Nintendo is so good they why don't they even make a console.

I think its because in 1994 and 1995 snes has lots of great game releases so people keep thinking that the same will happen again sometime because they always play those same roms.

Atari games can be pretty good, frogger, pitfall 2, yar revenge, jr pac man, tapper and cosmic swarm are pretty good for 2600. As for hardware the atari st could beat a pc for a while and the Lynx has scaling graphics.

The shader menus are real glitchy in retro arch and they are generally badly designed. A lot of the time I set up a shader and it freezes going to full screen or loses settings when I exit. Been play 1080 and Duke nukem 64 using the LLE gpu plugin looks real nice, performance is a bit higher than original hardware but not too much. I brought a usb n64 controller and it was just aweful, didn't fit together well at all and had sharp edges.

I own one but I've never been able to use it because I don't have a step down converter and I also don't have any controllers. I mite try and make an adaptor using arduino. From what I've seen for 1990 - 94 period it was capable of fantastic graphics but with limitations compared to the consoles, still the system seems to be capable of smooth scrolling in either verticle or horizontal but not both at once. The system looks to be capable of 16 bit colour and the graphics don't have that repeating tile look that the consoles had. If I had have seen it back in the day I definately would not have appreciated it since I didn't really notice lots of colours until seeing vga on pc in 1995. Even so, from glancing at the system documentation this system seems to be extraordinarily difficult to program for with it seeming to be difficult to figure out how to move some objects on screen. The system seems good at video backgrounds with sprites on top so stuff like gradius 3 and r type could have been done well here.

>>7074142
The graphics on that look amazing, no way snes or genesis could do that specifically.

You might be able to, I used to deliver pizza's and some peoples living rooms literally looked like most things were from at least the late 80's.

I got some pretty good box protectors because of it. Your fault for waiting too long to buy these. Ps2 and xbox original games are really cheap now if you still want to collect.

Is that related to metal slug 6 running on dreamcast. According to the decription the whole game loads into the DC 16 mb of ram. That would mean that these games are smaller than n64 games.

SMW because it is pretty much an improved version of SMB3, the issue with smb3 is the saving, because it didn't have battery save it forced them to do certain things. If you play the first 3 on all stars it just doesn't feel right with the saving, makes it too easy.

With Yossy's Island you could make the argument that its not really a platform game, more like a puzzle game and a bit of shooter. I haven't finished it so I don't know if its better but it has really nice bosses and those giant creatures look really nice.

I usually like to put them into folders such as shooters, platform, fight, racing, its makes choosing easier but somtimes you can get surprised looking for random games. I tried this game called Hudson Hawk on gameboy because its a wierd name and its pretty good.

Pretty annoying that they had these games almost ready to go an didn't release them back in the day.

I could never get the hang of it, when I would get to a corner I had to concentrate really hard just to remember which way to twist it. I had this after the dual shock so could be my issue.
